Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia is a chronic disorder with symptoms that include chronic, widespread musculoskeletal pain and stiffness associated with fatigue, poor sleep and the presence of discrete tender points. No cure is known and available treatments are only partially effective. Fibromyalgia affects more than 3 million people in the U.S., 75% of which are women between the ages of approximately 35 to 55.

Mayo Clinic study shows acupuncture can relieve fatigue and anxiety in fibromyalgia patients for up to seven months after the treatment. D. Martin. reported that six sessions of acupuncture treatment significantly improved symptoms related with fibromyalgia. Researchers noted the most dramatic benefits were seen one month after the treatments ended. They observed that the acupuncture was well tolerated, with minimal side effects.
